Prisvindende instruktør Pernille Rose Grønkjær (født 1973 i Aalborg) har arbejdet med dokumentarfilm gennem de sidste 10 år. Hendes seneste lange dokumentarfilm ”The Monastery – Mr. Vig and the Nun” har rejst verden rund på over 60 filmfestivaler og har spillet i biografter fra New York til Sydney. Filmen har vundet 14 internationale priser inklusive Joris Ivens prisen (dokumentarfilmes Oscar) og en Dansk Bodil i 2008.

Acclaimed and award winning director Pernille Rose Grønkjær (born 1973 in Denmark) has been working with documentary films for the past 10 years. Her latest feature documentary “The Monastery – Mr. Vig and the Nun” had US premiere at Sundance Film Festival and played in theatres in New York and other cities at great reviews. The film has won 14 awards the world over including The Cinema Eye Award in New York, the prestigious Joris Ivens Award in Amsterdam and it also earned a Spirit Award nomination 2008 (Independent Oscar). It has travelled to over 60 festivals around the world.

”The Monastery – Mr. Vig and the Nun” er historien om den veluddannede 86 årige ungkarl Jørgen Laursen Vig, som i 50 år har forsøgt at lave et kloster på det slot, han har købt til formålet. En gruppe Russisk Orthodokse nonner er nu endelig på vej og med dem, er Vigs livsdrøm på vej til at gå i opfyldelse. Men Russiske nonner har planer og viljer og vejen til drømmen viser sig at være meget anderledes end Vig havde forestillet sig.

The Monastery is the award winning story about the 82-year-old bachelor Mr. Vig, who has never known love, and Sister Amvrosija, a young Russian nun, who - by chance or destiny - becomes part of his life. 50 years ago Mr. Vig bought Hesbjerg Castle, with the dream of turning it into a monastery. Now, many years later, a group of Russian Orthodox nuns are on their way, and Mr. Vigs life-long dream is about to come true. But, nuns have plans and wills of their own, and Mr. Vig must realize that his dream becomes different than what he imagined.
